Tarrant County Municipal Restrictions

Texas law provides municipalities with the flexibility to enact their own statutes to restrict where State Registrants are and are not permitted to reside when they have been convicted of sexual offenses against minors.

This page lists the current policies of municipalities within Tarrant County and links to the relevant ordinance. Arlington

Arlington bars habitual* registrants from residing within 1,000 feet of a child safety zone.

* The term ‘habitual’ applies to registrants who have been convicted two or more times of a sexual offense and are required to register every 90 days.

Avondale

Avondale is an unincorporated community and lacks its own ordinances. The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office handles registration and compliance for unincorporated areas. State law generally bars registrants from residing within 500 feet of a child safety zone.


Bedford

Bedford bars registrants from residing within 2,000 feet of a child safety zone, and additionally bars the physical presences of registrants from within 500 feet of a child safety zone. Registrants are also barred from having outdoor lights on and passing out candy on Halloween. Violations can incur a fine of $2,000 per violation.

Benbrook

Benbrook bars registrants from residing within 2,000 feet of a child safety zone. Residents residing in Benbrook must report to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. Violations may incur a fine of $500 per violation.

Blue Mound

Blue Mound bars the physical presence of registrants from within 1,000 feet of a child safety zone. Violations can incur a fine of $500 per violation.

Colleyville

Colleyville bars registrants from residing within 2,000 feet of a child safety zone, and additionally bars the physical presence of registrants from within 500 feet of a child safety zone (the ordinance uses the term ‘loitering’ for this provision). Registrants are also barred from having outdoor lights on and passing out candy on Halloween. Violations can incur a fine of $2,000 per violation.

Crowley

Crowley bars registrants from residing within 1,000 feet of a child safety zone, as well as from within 500 feet of another registrant’s residence.

Dalworthington Gardens

The City of Dalworthington Gardens does not have any ordinances regulating registrants as of February 18, 2026.

Edgecliff Village

The City of Edgecliff Village does not have any ordinances regulating registrants as of February 18, 2026. Registrants residing in Edgecliff Village must report to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

Euless

The City of Euless does not have any ordinances regulating registrants as of February 18, 2026.

Everman

Everman bars registrants from residing within 1,000 feet of a child safety zone, knowingly entering a child safety zone, and also bars the physical presence of registrants on a public way within 300 feet of a child safety zone (the ordinance uses the term ‘loitering’ for this provision). Additionally, registrants are barred on October 30th and 31st (Halloween) from having outdoor lights on or otherwise inviting trick-or-treaters to solicit the premises. Violations can incur a fine of $2,000 per violation.

Forest Hill

Forest Hill bars registrants from residing within 2,000 feet of a child safety zone, registrants are also barred from knowingly entering a child safety zone. The physical presence of registrants on a public way within 300 feet of a child safety zone is barred (the ordinance uses the term ‘loitering’ for this provision). On October 30th and 31st (Halloween), registrants are also barred from having outdoor lights on or otherwise inviting trick-or-treaters to solicit the premises.

Registrants establishing a residence in Forest Hill must register with the Forest Hill Police Department within 30 days and will be issued a Forest Hill Police Department Identification Card containing their name, address, date of birth, and recent photograph. This ID card, and the registrant’s drivers license, must be presented to peace officers on demand.

Violations of this ordinance can incur a fine of $500 per violation.

Fort Worth

Fort Worth bars registrants from residing within 2,000 feet of a child safety zone. Violations can incur a fine of $500 per violation.

Grand Prairie

Grand Prairie bars registrants from residing within 1,000 feet of a child safety zone and residing permanently or temporarily in a hotel that is equipped with a swimming pool or playground. Additionally, the physical presence of registrants 15 minutes or more is barred from within 100 feet of a child safety zone (the ordinance uses the term ‘loitering’ for this provision.) Registrants who have a legitimate need to be within 100 feet of a child safety zone must notify the Grand Prairie Police Department. Violations can incur a fine of $500 per violation.

Haltom City

Haltom City bars registrants from residing within 1,000 feet of a child safety zone.

Haslet

The City of Haslet does not have any ordinances regulating registrants as of February 18, 2026, except that registrants may be denied permits to sell food or beverages, and property owners are barred from offering their properties as short-term rentals (AirBnB) to registrants. Registrants residing in Haslet must report to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

Hurst

Hurst bars registrants from residing within 2,000 feet of a child safety zone, and additionally bars the physical presence of registrants from within 500 feet of a child safety zone (The ordinance uses the term ‘loitering’ for this provision). Violations can incur a fine of $500 per violation.

Keller

Mansfield

Mansfield bars registrants from residing within 1,000 feet of a child safety zone, and additionally bars multiple registrants from living in the same residence. Violations can incur a fine of $500 per violation.

North Richland Hills

North Richland Hills bars registrants from residing within 1,000 feet of a child safety zone. Violations can incur a fine of $500 per violation.

Richland Hills

Richland Hills bars registrants from residing within 1,500 feet of a child safety zone. Violations can incur a fine of $500 per violation.

River Oaks bars registrants from residing within 1,500 of a child safety zone. Registrants residing in River Oaks must report to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. Each violation can incur a fine of $500 per violation.

Saginaw

Saginaw bars registrants from residing within 2,000 feet of a child safety zone, as well as from within 500 feet of the residence of another registrant.
