So you live in the Fort Worth area and are required to register with the state. What’s next? Where can you find an employer that will hire you? Where can you live? What other resources are available to you?
We hope to be able to help. Here you will find links to employers, housing managers, and other organizations and resources to assist you as you navigate the complexities of your obligation to register. If you sign up for an account here, you will also gain access to our forums where you can ask questions or share your own knowledge. If you are on parole or probation, you may find that your officer is also a member of the site which will give you another way to communicate with him or her.
While other people may refer to you as a “Sex Offender” due to your past conviction, we reject such labels as they carry a stigma that immediately attaches a negative assumption about who you are as a person. We recognize that “sex offenders in Fort Worth” are more than just a label — yes, that they are individuals whose bad decisions have indeed caused harm to others, but also that the majority are people who are simply trying to overcome their past convictions and re-establish themselves as valued and productive members of society. On Empowering Registrants, we will not refer to you as a Sex Offender or an SO. We prefer the terms “Registrant” or “Person Required to Register”. We believe that by providing invaluable information to registrants, we can help reduce the risk of recidivism by registrants and get them back on the path to being law-abiding citizens.
